The Augur of Ebrietas is a Hunter Tool in Bloodborne.

Description[]

In-Game Description

Remnant of the eldritch Truth encountered at Byrgenwerth.
Use phantasms, the invertebrates known to be augurs of the Great Ones, to partially summon abandoned Ebrietas.
The initial encounter marked the start of an inquiry into the cosmos from within the old labyrinth, and led to the establishment of the Choir.

Location[]

  • Lecture Building:
    • It is found in a chest in the 1st Floor. Acquire the Lecture Theatre Key on the left side of the main hall, inside a large auditorium. Then, unlock the door that leads to the other Auditorium, opposite to the one you were. To the right of the Auditorium there is a room with a chest; the item lies inside it.

Characteristics[]

Casting it costs a single Quicksilver Bullet, and causes a number of large tentacles to burst from the Hunter's hand. This deals high Arcane damage and is capable of knocking back most enemies and staggers larger foes.

In addition, it also functions as both a parry and a Charged Attack. If timed correctly, it will parry opponents. If it hits an enemy's back, the attack will leave them vulnerable to a Visceral Attack.

Notes[]

  • As of Patch 1.05, it is now capable of triggering parries and backstabs, and the damage was increased. This turns the Augur of Ebrietas into one of the fastest ways to trigger a backstab riposte. Regrettably, it does have a very long recovery animation, making it only useful if the backstab was triggered very close to the victim.
  • The Augur of Ebrietas has the highest Arcane damage per Quicksilver Bullet spent out of all Hunter Tools.
  • Due to the slowness of this Hunter Tool, players will have very little time to engage in a visceral attack if they parry or hit foes in the back. Make certain you are very much up against an enemy's back when using it this way, as to minimize the time to visceral attack it.
  • It is very useful in PvE, and it is a recommended Hunter Tool when fighting humanoid bosses like Gehrman, Lady Maria, or Micolash, due to the high stagger.

Trivia[]

  • Often used by hostile hunters and a human boss, including:
  • Killing Ebrietas in the physical world doesn't affect the use of this item, fortunately. This suggests that Ebrietas, much like the snake summoned from Madaras Whistle, inhabits the dream world.
  • In the early version of Bloodborne, the "Augur of Ebrietas" was originally going to be called the "Augur of Kos".
    • It would function in a similar way as Augur of Ebrietas does in the release version, but also summons a large spike from the ground. This spike is what does the damage; the tentacles have no hitbox. The spike cannot be targeted and appears randomly.
