The Rabid Dog is an enemy in Bloodborne.

Description[]

Rabid Dogs are domesticated dogs that became infected with the mysterious plague of Yharnam. They often wander alongside or nearby Huntsmen. Some are also found inside caged carriers.

They sometimes circle around their target before attacking, making it dangerous to face multiple hounds, as they can all attack from different angles, and bite their prey multiple times.

In the Nightmare of Mensis there is a variant that has a Carrion Crow's head. And in the Hunter's Nightmare a variant that accompanies the Old Hunters can be found. It deals more damage and resembles a Doberman.

Strategy[]

Rabid Dogs are fast, aggressive opponents who can easily kill a weakened player if they are unable to evade their attacks. They will often lunge to close the distance and then use a rapid bite attack at close range which can stunlock the player if they cannot escape it. Occasionally they can be found in cages and will break out when approached.

Gunshots will knock down these enemies which can be useful if faced with multiple dogs. Other ranged weapons can be used to lure them away and they are vulnerable to fire damage. They can be frequently found alongside Huntsmen and other foes so separating them from other enemies is crucial.

Notes[]

  • Though they are classified as Beasts, they are only "Animal-type" Beasts, and thus, are not affected by Serrated damage, and only by Blood Gems that have "ATK vs beasts UP". They are still weak to fire.
  • They are extremely sensitive to any type of Blood damage. As such, hitting them with gunfire or a blood weapon will knock them down.
  • The caged dogs have very low health and can be killed with bare hands.

Trivia[]
