The Hemwick Grave Woman is an enemy in Bloodborne.

Description

Tenders to the cremation sites of Hemwick. They wield a variety of tools as weapons against their enemies. Interestingly, they appear to be completely unaffected by the Beast Plague, though their insanity more than makes up for it.

The Hemwick Grave Women are extremely aggressive, as they charge forward without any regard for their own safety.

There are many variants of this enemy:

Location

Strategy

The melee variants of these enemies are almost identical in strategy to the Huntsman enemies (save the Rifle Huntsmen), rushing forward with reckless abandon. This leaves them very open for Visceral Attacks, resulting in easy kills. The Pole Iron variant of this enemy is the most dangerous melee variant, as it deals Fire damage as well as physical. However, high Fire-resist gear, can counteract the Fire, making them just as harmless as the other melee variants.

The most dangerous of these women is the Molotov version, who will throw their Molotovs with uncanny range and accuracy. The Molotovs themselves will deal little damage, and the health lost is easily rallied back on other enemies. However, where this variation becomes dangerous is when another enemy is nearby. The molotovs are guaranteed to stun the player, and with other enemies nearby, this may lead to an early demise.

  • "Die! Die!"
  • "You sicken me!"
  • "It's all your foul!"
  • "Quiet you, you scum!"
  • "Blood!"
  • "Curse upon you!"
  • "You!"
  • "I'll get you"

  • "Burn! Burn!"
  • "Burn! You fiend"

Notes

  • They are far more aggressive than their male counterparts, the Huntsmen.
  • Hunting Dogs are occasionally accompanying these enemies.

Trivia

  • These women work in a Channel Lane which is the place to store the dead bodies. They also cremate the corpses which is strange in Yharnam where burial is a tradition.
  • Their weapons are actually their tools: the big hammer to crush the human remains after cremation, the hot iron pole to tend the fire, and the sickle to dismember the bodies.
  • There is a statue, near the Hemwick Charnel Lane lamp, where the Hemwick Grave Women appear to be delirious, which depicts a Grave Woman holding the Pole Iron.
